Muara Enim ,SKI – South Sumatera – PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Zone 4 Prabumulih has again recorded a resounding success with the drilling of a new well in the Benuang Structure, PEP Zone 4 Working Area (WK). The well, named BNG 061, is located in the BNG 41T Field Adera location, Baturaja Village, Empat Petulai Dangku Sub-district, Muara Enim Regency. With very encouraging initial results, this well shows oil and gas potential far beyond expectations.
In a test conducted on 29 September 2024, the BNG 061 well successfully produced 1,928 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 6.46 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD), with a drilling depth of 2,381 meters. This result is much higher than the initial estimate of 276 BOPD and 0.15 MMSCFD. This success is one of the key moments in the history of well development in this structure.
SSDP Zone 4 Senior Manager, Reza Nur Ardianto, explained that the BNG 061 well is the eighth drilling of a total of 14 wells planned in 2024 in accordance with the Work Program and Budget (WPnB) and the Company’s Work Plan and Budget (RKAP) 2024. This success is also a continuation of the drilling achievements in 2022-2023 in the Benuang Structure. “With results like this, PEP will continue to accelerate drilling activities in Zone 4.

The team successfully mapped the best areas and penetrated some of the best sandstone layers of the Talangakar formation. This method proved effective by significantly increasing the success ratio to 443%. The discovery of new layers also opens up opportunities for further development in the future.
Zone 4 General Manager, Djujuwanto, stated that massive field development will continue, including the drilling of infill wells scheduled to take place from 2024 to 2028. This success extends the positive trend from the drilling of previous wells in the Benuang Structure. “Drilling resulting in an increase in oil production above the target like this is a success. We hope this positive trend will continue in the next drills,” he said.
Djujuwanto also emphasized that all drilling activities must always prioritize safety aspects. “Safety is paramount to maintain the continuity of superior production in WK Rokan Zone 4,” he said.
